Springfield, Mo. – Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH) will be offering $15 sports physicals May through August for children ages 5-18 years of age. Physicals will be available Monday through Friday and are available by phone call appointment from the following OCH providers:

Springfield, MO – Data released this week from the 2012 Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) Community Investment Report totals OCH’s community benefit to $4,353,707.

This total includes the sum of uncompensated care, unpaid costs of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, donations, health professional’s education and free or low-cost medical services offered to uninsured patients.

OCH is classified as a safety-net provider, with more than 80 percent of patient care going to governmental and self-insured patients. The hospital system does not receive public or private support and pays all local, state and federal taxes. In spite of this, OCH remains a major employer in the Southwest Missouri area with more than 530 full-time employees and $18,892,661 in payroll and benefits. 

The 2012 Community Investment Report states Missouri and Kansas hospitals provided a $622.8 million in charity care, a 22 percent increase since 2010. Missouri and Kansas hospitals participating in this report contributed more than $9.4 billion in economic activity and support nearly 132,000 full-time equivalent jobs.

Dr. Halley named MAOPS Physician of the Year

Springfield, MO – The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) recently honored Randall Halley, DO as “Physician of the Year” at the annual President’s and Awards banquet held on May 5. Dr. Halley was nominated for the award by fellow MAOPS members and districts with final recommendation from the Scholarship and Awards Committee and the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Halley has practiced at OCH since 2004 and has an active geriatric practice and family practice in Nixa andSpringfield. He is currently the Medical Director of Ozark Riverview Manor and has served in this role since 1984. Dr. Halley also serves as the Medical Director of Lacoba Homes, Inc; Magnolia Square, and is the Primary Medical Director for Seasons Hospice, a non-for-profit non-denominational religiously affiliated Hospice. He received his education from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
